A ‘Name Giving’
Ceremony is your special day when your child is acknowledged and
welcomed into the family and wider community. It is a fulfilling and
meaningful experience for all concerned and an occasion when a new
birth is celebrated and welcomed into the world.
‘God Parents’ are usually appointed for the new child, although if
preferred, may be called ‘Mentors’ or ‘Guardians’. Grandparents and
other family members are also included on this special occasion.
I will respond to the cultural and community needs to welcome a
child into the family and the ceremony is also a time to acknowledge
the great responsibility involved in bringing up a child.
You may choose to have this ceremony when the child is any age. Your
child will receive a certificate to commemorate this special day.
Whether you wish to have a large or small gathering, formal or
informal, I will listen to what you want, make suggestions and offer
advice for the special day. I have a vast selection of poems and
verses and many creative ideas to ensure that your child’s Naming
Day will be unique and memorable for all who attend.
On the day, I
will be there to assist, advise and present your ceremony, when a
calm, guiding, independent hand is needed.
